Streamlight Stinger LED HP

I had the chance to test the Stinger LED HP the other night. Specifically, I was using the model number STL-75760. It was a clear night in the country and the moon was nowhere to be found. There was a crisp stillness in the air with the hint of smoke. The farmers in the surrounding counties have been engaged in the springtime ritual of burning the natural prairie grass in preparation for grazing their springtime herds on the rich shoots of green grass that will appear within a week after burning.
As I stood out on the back porch, I was listening to the distant sounds of a coyote blended with the response from a lonely farm dog not far away. This was a good night to test this light. I had read all the features and benefits from the manufactures website regarding this light and frankly I was a bit skeptical because of the claims of the performance. The only noticeable difference between this light and a standard Stinger LED
(STL-75710) is the size of the lens bezel on the Stinger LED HP which increases the overall length to 9.23 in (23.44 cm) from 8.41 (21.36cm).
Then I turned it on. I could go into a long conversation about the lumen output and the candela ratings, but I will save that for another time. All I could say is WOW! The Stinger LED HP cut through the darkness like a lighthouse. The beam was solid and full. There were no dark spots in the center of the beam like with other lights that use older bulb technology. This was impressive. As I swung the light from objects near and distant and back again, the sky and ground were wrapped in a great glow that provided all the illumination I needed to see the smallest details. Next I swung it around to the shine down on a small shed about ¼ mile away. To my amazement, this LED light lit it up like a searchlight from a helicopter right overhead.
This is a very impressive light, to say the least, and at under one hundred bucks, a great deal too. The Streamlight LED HP incorporates all the standard features that you would expect to find on a light designed and built by Streamlight, including a four position electronic switch that now includes a strobe function.

STREAMLIGHT® LAUNCHES E-FLOOD™ LITEBOX® AND FIREBOX® LANTERNS FOR THE SPORTING GOODS MARKET

Streamlight®, Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-performance flashlights for outdoor sporting enthusiasts, announced it has introduced the E-Flood™ LiteBox® and E-Flood™ FireBox® industrial-duty, rechargeable portable lanterns, featuring C4® power LED technology.

"These rugged, dependable lanterns use advanced LED technology to provide even brighter flood light than our popular LiteBox and FireBox models, for a wide variety of outdoor applications, such as lighting up a camp scene or trail during low light conditions," said Streamlight President Ray Sharrah. "They also deliver exceptionally long runtimes, while offering the economy of rechargeable lights."

Sharrah said that the E-Flood models each use six LEDs and wide pattern parabolic reflectors to produce a smooth, uniform flood pattern. Both feature jumper selectable high and low settings to allow selection of more light output or increased runtime. On the high setting, the E-Flood models provide 4,000 candela peak beam intensity and 615 lumens measured system output over a distance of more than 400 feet. On the low setting, they provide 2,150 candela peak beam intensity and 330 lumens measured system output. Run time is up to 8 hours on the high setting and up to18 hours on the low setting, over a distance of more than 300 feet.

The C4 LEDs are impervious to shock with a 50,000-hour lifespan. Red and green LEDs provide charge status. All models use a zero-maintenance, 6 volt 12Ah sealed lead acid battery which is rechargeable up to 500 times.

The E-Flood LiteBox is available in Standard and Vehicle Mount systems, which both feature a pushbutton switch and shoulder strap and are available in international safety orange or high-visibility yellow. The Standard system features AC and DC charge cords and a charge rack and the Vehicle Mount system features a vehicle-mountable hard-wire charge rack. The E-Flood LiteBox also comes in a Power Failure model, which features a pushbutton switch and "smart power" failure circuitry that automatically goes on when the power goes off. It is available in international safety orange or beige and includes AC and DC charge cords and a charge rack.

The E-Flood FireBox is available in Standard and Vehicle Mount versions, which both feature a toggle switch and two user-programmable ultra bright blue tail-light LEDs, so users can be seen in any direction no matter which way the light is shining. Both are available in international safety orange or high-visibility yellow and include a shoulder strap. The Standard system features AC and DC charge cords and a charge rack and the Vehicle Mount system features a vehicle-mountable hard-wire charge rack.

All models measure 11.5 inches and weigh 7.9 pounds, and include a high-impact, ABS thermoplastic housing with a rubberized impact bumper, lens ring and cushioned-grip handle that facilitates gripping them with gloves. All E-Flood models fit existing Streamlight LiteBox chargers.

The E-Flood LiteBox and FireBox lanterns have been tested to the ANSI/NEMA FL-1 standard for flashlights, and feature an IPX4 design for water resistant operation. Most models meet applicable European Community Directives. The charge racks meet requirements of NFPA 1901-14.1.11.2 (2003) mounted in any position.

The average suggested retail price for all models, including chargers, is $315. All models come with Streamlight's Limited Lifetime Warranty.
