New Versions of Super Tac, TL-2 LED, TLR-1 and TLR- 2
Illuminate While Preserving Night Vision
EAGLEVILLE, PA, November 8, 2008 Streamlight Inc. announced it
has introduced infrared active illuminator versions of four key
tactical hand-held and gun-mount flashlights, featuring the latest
in high power infrared LED technology.
The new models include the hand-held IR Super Tac and the IR
TL-2 LED and the gun-mounted IR TLR-1 and IR TLR-2. All four
lights are designed to provide law enforcement officers, tactical
and military personnel with extraordinary long-range infrared
illumination without compromising night vision. The IR TLR-2 also
comes equipped with an integrated infrared aiming laser.
Each of the new lights features a high power, 850 nanometer
infrared LED, which is impervious to shock, with a 20,000 hour
lifespan. The IR TLR-2 also includes an 850 nanometer laser for
long range targeting. All four lights feature Streamlights
proprietary deep-dish parabolic reflector which provides a
concentrated beam with optimum peripheral illumination to aid in
navigation.
These high-performance infrared flashlight tools enable police,
tactical professionals and soldiers to preserve their night vision
during night-time or covert operations, said Streamlight Chief
Operating Officer Ray Sharrah. Whether using one of the hand-held
models for night-time duty, or a gun-mounted illuminator when on
tactical maneuvers, these new infrared LED lights go the distance
for law enforcement, military and other emergency personnel
operating under low-light, dangerous conditions.
Both the IR Super Tac and the IR TL-2 LED feature a push button
momentary or constant on tail cap switch for easy, one-handed
operation. The tail cap on each light rotates for a Safe
position. Both lights feature up to 3.5 hours of runtime to the
10% output level.
Both the IR TLR-1 and IR TLR-2 have an ambidextrous momentary/
steady On-Off switch, and the IR TLR-2 also features a three-
position mode selector switch with IR Laser Only, IR Illuminator
Only or both modes settings. Designed for ease of use and safety,
the IR TLR-1 and IR TLR-2 are easily mounted to firearms and
detached with a one-handed snap-on-and-tighten interface without
the need for tools and without the users hand passing in front of
the muzzle. The IR TLR-1 provides up to 7.5 hours of continuous
runtime, while the IR TLR-2 also features 7.5 hours of continuous
runtime when using the IR Laser and IR Illuminator simultaneously,
and 45+ hours of runtime in the IR Laser-only mode.
With extensively live-fire tested impact resistant construction,
the IR TLR-1 and IR TLR-2 mount directly to a wide range of
handguns with Glock-style rails and 1913/Picatinny rails. Both the
IR TLR-1 and IR TLR-2 come with keys for Glock-style, Picatinny,
Beretta 90two, S&W 99 and S&W TSW rails. The IR Super Tac also
fits certain Streamlight rail mounts and can be operated with
certain Streamlight remote switches.
The IR Super Tac is 6.62 inches long, and weights 7.1 ounces, while
the IR-TL-2 LED measures 5.25 inches, and weighs 4.7 ounces. The
IR TLR-1 weighs 4.18 ounces while the IR TLR-2 weighs 4.72 ounces.
Both IR TLR models measure 3.26 inches in length.
All four lights are powered by two 3-volt CR123A lithium batteries,
which have a storage life of 10 years, and all are backed by
Streamlights limited lifetime warranty. The suggested retail
prices are: the IR Super-Tac, $150; the IR TL-2 LED, $140; the IR
TLR-1, $250; and the IR TLR-2, $750.
